- One kilogram beef chunks
- One large chopped onion
- Four pieces minced garlic cloves
- One tablespoon tomato paste
- One cup sliced mushrooms
- Four large sliced carrots
- One cup small potatoes
- One quarter cup of all purpose flour
- Six cups beef broth
- Four tablespoon cooking oil
- Two Pieces bay leaves
- One table spoon dried thyme
- Black pepper powder to taste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
In a wide mixing bowl, add beef chunks. Then sprinkle salt and black pepper powder over it. Also, add flour to the bowl, now using a spatula or a spoon mix them thoroughly.
Secondly, heat a large pot over high heat. Once the pot is heated enough, pour 2 tbsp of vegetable oil into the pot. Let it heat, then add beef chunks into the pot for shallow frying. Cook them in small batches for 5 minutes or until they turn brown in color. Now, dish them out in a bowl and set aside for later use.
In another pan, pour two tablespoons of oil and heat it for a minute. Then add diced carrots, onions, minced garlic, and tomato paste to the pan. Sautee them for 5 minutes. Then set them aside for later use.
In the large pot, pour beef broth and let it simmer on medium flame for 5 minutes. Then add sliced mushrooms into the pot and cook them for 10 minutes on a medium flame.
Then transfer the sauteed vegetable into the Mushroom pot. Give them a good mix for combining, now let them simmer on medium flame.
Once after adding veggies, sprinkle spices in the pot. Add bay leaves and sprinkle thyme into the beef stew.
Then transfer the shallow fried beef into the pot. Mix them together with the help of a spoon ladle.
Finally, add diced potatoes into the pot. Mix them together so that all items are submerged in beef broth.
Then put the lid on the pot and reduce the flame to medium-low. Let it cook for one and a half hours or until the beef and potatoes are tender.
After half hour of cooking on medium flame, your beef stew is ready. Garnish it with some fresh herbs. Then dish it out in a bowl to serve with pita bread or any of your favorite loafs.
