Hayashi Recipe Ingredients

Steamed Rice Ingredients

  • Water 6cups
  • Rice 2 cups
  • Salt as per taste

Hayashi Beef Ingredients

  • Beef 500grams
  • Onion 2large
  • Mushrooms 1cup
  • Salt 1tsp
  • Black pepper 1tsp
  • Garlic 2cloves
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Butter 1tbsp

Hayashi Sauce Ingredients

  • Tomato juice 2cups
  • Tomato paste 1tbsp
  • Worcestershire sauce 2tbsp
  • Soy sauce 1tbsp
  • Ketchup 3tbsp
  • Brown sugar 2tbsp
  • Salt as per taste


Cooking Steamed Rice


In a pot add six cups of water and put it on the stove on medium flame, when the water gets boiled add two cups of rice and salt according to taste into the pot. Let them boil for 5-10 minutes then drain the water and put the steamed rice aside for later use. You can also make them in a rice cooker.

Cooking Beef


In the pan pour olive oil and let it heat on medium heat, then add thinly sliced beef into the pot, fry the beef on high heat until it changes its color. Take out the beef in a bowl when it’s done.

Then in the same pan now add sliced mushrooms and cook them on high heat for5-7 minutes. When they are done take out mushrooms in a bowl for later use.


In the pot add butter, and let it melt. then add chopped onion, and fry them on medium heat until they get brown in color. Then crush garlic cloves and add them to the pot, keep stirring the onions in between to avoid sticking to the pan.


Making Sauce


Then add Brown sugar, Soy sauce, Tomato paste, Ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and salt into the pot. Secondly, mix them together using a spoon and simmer on medium heat for two minutes. Then pour Tomato juice into the pot, and let the mixture boil for two minutes more.


Then add fried beef and mushrooms into the pot, and cover them in the mixture by stirring the spoon into the pot. Cover the lid of the pot and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.


Finish by turning off the flame and serve the thicked beef stew with steamed rice on a plate.
