Directions for Making Dalgona Candy
Add Sugar to a Spoon Ladle
Firstly, take a spoon ladle and then add one and a half tablespoons of granulated sugar into it.
Heat Spoon Ladle
Secondly, turn on the stove and put the spoon ladle over medium-low to low heat. Let the granulated sugar melt in a ladle.
Stir with Chopstick
Once the sugar starts melting, take a chopstick and stir it in the melting sugar. Keep stirring until sugar starts caramelizing. Stirring with a chopstick prevents sugar from burning and sticking to the edges. If you don’t have a chopstick you can use popsicles.
Add Baking Soda
Once the sugar is fully caramelized and the caramel is in light amber color, remove the spoon ladle from heat. Then add a pinch of baking soda into the caramelized liquid for making a tasty korean candy, and keep stirring for a minute or until well incorporated.
Pour Candy Mixture on Parchment Paper
Then put a parchment paper or silicone mat on a flat surface and pour caramel mixture on it.
Press with Flat Cup
Then take a flat surface measuring cup and press the candy mixture with it. Most Koreans use a hotteok press to press candy mixture, but you can use any cup having a flat surface. Then gently lift the cutter from the Korean candy.
Shape with Cookie Cutter
Finally, take a cookie cutter and press it over the caramel. Once induction is printed on candy lift up the cutter.
Enjoy Dalgona Candy
