Tiramisu Ingredients
- Espresso 1 1/2 cups
- Ladyfinger cookies 40
- Egg yolks 6
- Sugar 3/4 cup
- Mascarpone cheese 2 cups
- Heavy whipping cream 2 cups
- Unsweetened cocoa powder 2-3 tbsp
Directions for Making Tiramisu
Whisk Egg and Sugar over Steam
Firstly, take a mixing bowl and then add six egg yolks into the bowl. Also, add sugar into the bowl and mix them to combine together. Now place the mixing bowl over a pan of boiling water and whisk them for 10 minutes on low flame. Once the mixture turns light in color, take it aside and let it cool down.
Whip Cheese
For preparing tiramisu frosting, in another bowl add mascarpone cheese and beat it on medium speed for 3- 5 minutes. You can use a hand whisk or electric beater for this purpose.
Combine Cheese & Egg Mixture
Then pour the egg mixture into the cheese bowl and beat them together for 2 minutes on medium speed or until well combined.
Beat Whipped Cream
Secondly, take a chill bowl and add the whipped cream to it. Then for tiramisu frosting, beat it on high speed for 5-7 minutes or until soft peaks are formed.
Combine Cream with Egg & Cheese Mixture
Then add the whipped cream into the cheese and egg mixture. Gently fold them together using a spatula. The frosting is ready for tiramisu, set it aside for later use.
Prepare Espresso
For the base of tiramisu, prepare a cup of espresso by combining hot water and coffee. Then pour it into a bowl once it gets cool.
Dip Ladyfingers in Espresso
Take ladyfinger cookies and dip them into espresso. One by one dip all cookies in espresso.
Arrange First Layer
Then for tiramisu, arrange dipped cookies into a serving casserole. Arrange the first layer by placing half of the cookies into the casserole.
Spread Second Layer
Now for the second layer, add prepared frosting and spread it evenly over the first layer of ladyfinger cookies.
Arrange Third Layer
Then again place the remaining ladyfinger cookies as a third layer over the frosting layer.
Spread Fourth Layer
Finally, pour the remaining frosting into the casserole as a final layer. Then spread it smoothly using a spatula.
Wrap & Refrigerate
Wrap the casserole with a cling wrap and then place it in the refrigerator for 6 hours.
Dust with Cocoa Powder
After 6 hours, take out the tiramisu and remove the cling wrap. Then dust off cocoa powder over it with the help of a strainer.
Serve
Now serve it with sliced strawberry and chocolate syrup over it. You can also decorate it with chocolate chips before serving.
Tips
- While steaming egg yolk and sugar make sure the bowl is heatproof.
- Also, keep in mind that the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water.
- Keep whipped cream in the refrigerator before beating it, the more it is chilled the more beautifully it will whip.
