According to our belief all good and bad things happens in our life because of fate, which is written by Allah Almighty. Allah Almighty has given us the power of Dua to change our fate. As Muslims, we believe that Allah decrees the fate of His creation on the night of Laylatul Qadar, so we should pray before the Almighty for a worthy fate and ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness. Let’s discuss step by step how to pray in Laylatul Qadar
The Arabic word Layla means “Night” or “Dark” while Qadar is said to be “divine power”. Hence, Laylatul Qadar stands for ‘Night of power”. According to Islamic belief, this is the night in which the first verses of the Quran were revealed upon Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W). Laylatul Qadar can be found in the last ten nights of Ramadan but the exact date among these ten nights is uncertain. However, it can be among the odd number of nights( 21, 23, 25, 27, 29). The whole chapter “Qadar” in the Quran defines the importance of this night.
Laylatul Qadar in Quran
Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn. (Surah Qadar verses 1-5)
Laylatul Qadar in Hadiths
The Prophet said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven". (Narrated Abu Huraira(R.A) Sahih Bukhari Hadith# 2014)
Allah's Apostle said, "Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan". (Narrated Hazrat Aisha(R.A) Sahih Bukhari Hadith# 2017)
With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to pray all night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers.(Narrated Hazrat Aisha(R.A) Sahih Bukhari Hadith# 2024)
