A Perfect Filet Mignon Recipe

Filet mignon is a luxury high cut of beef steak. It’s a little intimidating, due to filet mignon price but sometimes it’s not bad to splurge for a luxury meal at special events. Ingredients

  • 200 filet mignon
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 piece garlic clove
  • 2 pieces fresh rose marry spring
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper powder to taste

Instructions

Before making steak, make sure your filet mignon rest at room temperature. Firstly, grab it straight from the freezer and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking it. Its better to buy it fresh.
Now season the filet mignon with a generous amount of salt and black pepper powder. Season top, bottom, and sides of steak thoroughly to get an even flavor.

Then take a pan and heat it for 5 minutes over high flame. Then pour two tablespoons of cooking oil into it. Once the oil starts to shimmer and smoke comes out from it place your steak in it. Then let it sit for 3 minutes without moving it from the place. When the crust at the bottom is formed, flip the steak and sear it from another side for 3 more minutes without moving.

For basting the filet magnon, add two tablespoons of butter, one clove of garlic, and two sprigs of fresh rosemary into the pan. Then tilt the pan so that butter gathers at one side of the pan. Now using a spoon collect melted butter and pour it over the steak using a spoon. Keep basting for 3 minutes.

Now remove the pan from the stove and place it in the 230˚C preheated oven. Then bake for 7 minutes for a medium-rare steak. Cooking filet mignon in the oven will equally turn steak tender.

Once the filet mignon is baked, take out its steak and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then slice it into pieces for serving. If you skip the resting part then it will turn dry. Moreover, resting keeps it tender and juicy.

Once the steak is ready, you can serve it with sauteed veggies, mashed potatoes, pesto sauce, or even with cream of mushroom sauce.
